What's The Big Deal over Harry Potter?

I have followed a few of the Harry Potter movies, and only read one of the books. Besides, I really didn't want to stand in the long lines to get the others:).
From what I have heard and what I can see, with the youth today, Harry Potter, enables then to escape from the everyday blahs. The actor who plays Harry Potter is, in my opinion, a very talented young man and the young girls seem to have fallen in love him and his character. Having a teenage daughter, I get to listen to the oohs and ahhs when he appears either on the screen or in a television interview.
From what I have seen in the movies, the story depicts the simplicity, that good can conquer evil. There are repercussions, which one could say are the trials we face in life , as the battles ensue. But good always seems to triumph.
It is this reason, I believe, that everyone wants to see the next movie, read the next book, etc..The question being "How will Harry and his friends win the next one?"

I personally don't have any attitude toward the Harry Potter stories, but my children have read them, and so have their friends. I expressed what i thought was the hoopla over Harry Potter, I am entitled to my opinion as to why so many children and adults rush out in the dead of night to stand in line to be the one to get the copies as they come off the press. Still today, I really don't know why they do that, as I go to garage sales and estate sales every weekend in my line of work and find copies of Harry Potter for sale as low as $.50, and sometimes...they are giving them away. So...I am still wondering what is the big deal over Harry Potter????
